English Cops Set To Run Through Central Park For Kids Cancer Charity

May 16, 2018 - 1:29 pm

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The annual JACK's PACK Half Marathon is on Saturday in Central Park. The event is held to raise money for kids with cancer.

CEO Richard James Brown said he started the organization after his son Jack died of cancer in 2009. The family had moved to New York from the UK in search of treatment.

Brown said he expects 88 police officers from London to participate.

"It has been going now for over 10 years. Everyone gives their own time, their own leave to come out, they all pay their own way, and they still raise an enormous amount of money. And yes they have fun from the experience, and it is a tremendous experience. New York never lets us down, New Yorkers never let us down," he said.

The English cops  will be joined by members of the NYPD, FDNY, and American military personnel. They'll be running on Central Park's Southern Loop.

A second event on Monday, May 21, will have participants pulling a JetBlue Airbus at JFK Airport.
