WASHINGTON (1010 WINS) -- Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is calling for Donald Trump to be impeached.

On Friday, Warren called for the Democrat-led House of Representatives to begin impeachment proceedings against the president over evidence purporting to show that Trump tried to undermine the special counsel's inquiry.

Warren, a 2020 hopeful, took to Twitter to lay out her argument.

“To ignore a president’s repeated efforts to obstruct an investigation into his own disloyal behavior would inflict great and lasting damage on this country, and it would suggest that both the current and future Presidents would be free to abuse their power in similar ways,” Warren wrote.

There's no guarantee that House Democrats will follow Warren's lead. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others feel they may be better off leaving things in the hands of voters in 2020.
