NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A Brooklyn schoolteacher was arrested Monday and is accused of having a months-long sexual encounters with a fifth-grade girl.

Daniel Santiago, 29, was handcuffed at PS 244 in East Flatbush Monday morning and led away by police.

He’s accused of fondling the 11-year-old girl and repeatedly sending her sexually explicit text messages over the last seven or eight weeks.

In a statement, the Department of Education said Santiago was immediately reassigned away from the classroom as the allegations were being investigated.

The department said Santiago has since been taken off the payroll.

Parents were furious when they heard about the allegations.

“I have a daughter. I have a son,” one dad said. “I’m sick to my stomach just to hear it.”

Santiago faces a charge of sex abuse in the first degree.
