Off-duty NYPD officer killed in motorcycle crash IDed as dad of 5, including newborn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The off-duty NYPD officer who was killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday morning has been identified as married dad Marc St. Arromand, 42, of Elmont, Long Island, 1010 WINS has confirmed.

He was a 14-year veteran of the NYPD.

St. Arromand has a newborn boy Jason and two other sons, Daniel, 2, and Michael, 4, according to a GoFundMe page set up in his honor. He is also step-dad to his wife Cecilia Jackson's two daughters, Cayla, 9, and Sa'Niyah, 11.

"Your donations will go directly to the St. Arromand family," reads the GoFundMe page, which had collected more than $3,500 as of Thursday afternoon. "The members of Highway Patrol Unit # 2 as well as the NYPD thank you for your support.  Please share this donation page on your Facebook. Any and all help is appreciated."

Cops say St. Arromand was riding a 2011 Yamaha motorcycle on the Belt Parkway and East Merrick Boulevard around 5:30 a.m.

Police say the officer was driving to work when he lost control and was killed.

"This is a very painful day for all of us a brave police officer who serves us and who we have lost so early in his life. It is a very painful moment for all of us," Mayor Bill de Blasio said, "Today when you see members of the NYPD, please extend your condolonces to them. It's going to be a very tough day for all of them."

No one else was involved in the accident. He was taken to Franklin General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
