MANITOBA, Canada (1010 WINS) -- A driver caught speeding in Manitoba, Canada thought he had a good excuse -- it was 80s metal that made him push the pedal.

He was doing 145 kilometers per hour -- that's about 90 mph -- when Royal Canadian Mounted Police pulled him over. The driver promptly blamed his speeding on Motley Crue.

“This driver’s excuse for going 145kmh? Kickstart My Heart by Mötley Crüe was on the radio,” the Mounties said in a Facebook post.

It turns out the Mounties were listening to the same station, but they fined him anyway.

“Funny enough, our officer knew he was telling the truth, since he was also listening to it — just at a much slower & safer speed. Fined $639,” the Mounties added.

Maybe next time he'll try Can't Drive by Sammy Hagar, and see if that works better.
