Despite questioning Ford, women’s group calls Trump ‘breath of fresh air’

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- If you roll in certain political circles you might be a bit surprised by this one; women are still supporting President Donald Trump -- even as he questioned the testimony of an alleged sex assault victim.

Among supporters roaring with approval at a campaign rally for the president were women holding signs that read 'Women For Trump.'

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford was open about the haziness of her memory in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee; something the president pointed out as he addressed the crowd at the Landers Arena in Mississippi.

“How did you get home? 'I don’t remember.' How did you get there? 'I don’t remember.' Where is the place? 'I don’t remember.' How many years ago was it? 'I don’t know,’” Trump said.

The Daily News reports critics were stunned by the enthusiastic support Trump seemed to enjoy from women in the crowd, support echoed by senior adviser Kellyanne Conway.

"When did he say she’s not credible? He said there were factual inconsistencies. He laid them out for you. Don’t put words in the president’s mouth, please,” she said.

Conway recently came forward and said that she too was a victim of sexual assault. She wasn't alone, as other women took to Twitter to defend the president.

"Never mocked her! Listen to HIS words! He was pointing out ALL OF HER INCONSISTENCIES," one woman wrote.

"He's not wrong," another added.

A Quinnipiac Poll found 37 percent of women support Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court with 29 percent saying they did not believe Dr. Ford. In 216, 42 percent of women voted for Trump over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

A PAC called 'Women Vote Trump' or 'Women Vote Smart' has raised more than $80,000 for midterm elections and calls Trump a 'breath of fresh air.'

“Yeah, we know he sometimes says things that get him in trouble… That’s because he‘s not working off a TelePrompTer or a script fine tuned by a consultant and focus groups,” the website claims. “And we know that when it comes to women – he walks the walk instead of just paying lip service to us.

The group is hosting a Women for America Summit at Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. which will feature speakers that include Lara Trump, Judge Jeanine Pirro, and Katrina Pierson.
