NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Alexandria Ocasio Cortez -- who is apparently well on her way to congress -- made some news with her views.

She was interviewed on PBS and asked about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Ocasio Cortez acknowledged Israel's right to exist, but went on to talk about the occupation of Palestine.

“I also think that what people are starting to see, at least, in the occupation of Palestine is just an increasing crisis of humanitarian condition.” she said, ""What I meant is like the settlements that are increasing in some of these areas and places where Palestinians are experiencing difficulty in access to their housing and homes,”

The Simon Wiesenthal Center tweeted that Ocasio Cortez, "knows zero about 3,500 year relationship of Jewish people to Land of Israel."

She also opined that the U.S. doesn't have capitalist roots and that capitalism would come to an end one day.

“Capitalism has not always existed in the world and it will not always exist in the world,” said Ocasio-Cortez. “When this country started … we did not operate on a capitalist economy.”

Ocasio Cortez has a degree in economics and international relations from Boston University. She has spent the last 7 years working as a waitress and bartender.
