Deliberations Restart At Mangano Trial After Juror Calls In Sick

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A federal judge ordered a jury to restart deliberations Tuesday in the corruption trial of former Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and his wife.

This comes after a juror called in sick on what would have been day seven of deliberations.

That person has been replaced by an alternate.

The judge also denied a defense request for a mistrial after the same juror sent a note to the judge claiming there was cursing and name calling during deliberations.

Mangano is accused of trading county contracts for personal gifts from restaurateur Harendra Singh. Mangano's wife, Linda, is accused of accepting $450,000 from Singh for a no-show job.

Last week, jurors found their codefendant, former Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto, not guilty on all charges.
