NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman was nearly hit by debris falling from the elevated 7 line tracks in Queens Monday, continuing a series of potentially dangerous incidents.

Erin Koster and another woman were walking across Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside when a couple of pieces of metal fell from the tracks above.

"This is a really busy subway stop here on the 7 line," New York City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer said, "There's a school not too far away, so families are walking across Roosevelt Avenue all day long."

This was the fourth such incident since February.

In response to the incident, the MTA now says it will start installing netting in a pilot program in limited areas around the city.
