July 12, 2018 - 8:38 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are reportedly opened a homicide investigation into the case of a woman who was found dead inside of a trash chute at the Zeckendorf Towers in Union Square.

There is surveillance video of 48-year-old Lara Prychodko walking alone in the hall on the floor where she lived, and there was no sign of anything wrong, a source told the Daily News.

She was later found dead and her handbag was discovered near the 27th floor elevator.

"It's scary," one resident said. "In fact, when I texted my boyfriend about this he told me to get out of the building cause he was worried, as was I. But it was so hush, hush."

Police remained active at the scene for more than 12 hours.

The ritzy building is home to many high profile residents, including Anthony Weiner and his wife Huma Abedin.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
