CORONAVIRUS IN CONNECTICUT: Death toll from coronavirus outbreak tops 1,000

    STAMFORD, Conn. (1010 WINS) --  Gov. Ned Lamont said Friday that Connecticut had surpassed 1,000 coronavirus related deaths with nearly 17,000 cases statewide.

    There were 925 people that tested positive, bringing the state's total number of cases to 16,809, Lamont reported during a briefing on Friday.

    The death toll rose by 65 for a total of 1,036 fatalities statewide.

    There were 1,946 hospitalizations and more than 55,462 people had been tested, Lamont said.

    Fairfield County has reported the most cases and deaths: 7,146 and 425, respectively. 

    Hartford County has reported 3,015 cases and 266 deaths.

    New Haven County has reported 4,520 cases and 229 deaths.
