NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Walkers and bikers will like Friday morning's announcement from Mayor Bill de Blasio -- drivers; not so much.

Cars are being banned from parts of Central Park starting in June.

When told of the south of 72nd Street van, Vladimir the cabbie -- 'Vladimir like Putin' he told 1010 WINS' John Montone  -- declared de Blasio 'de enemy.'

"I don't like it because it help us to avoid this traffic, every day, you're going to JFK or somewhere you stay here 25, 30 minutes, just two blocks," he said.

Frank was taking a leisurely stroll. He disagreed with Vladimir.

"The cars need to go away, and people need to walk through the park. The park is made for us," he said.

Another cabbie said he would spend as little time as possible in Manhattan and focus instead on making airport runs.
