NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave high praise to New Yorkers for their response to the coronavirus pandemic, but slammed anyone who does not wear a mask in public as "disrespectful," during his Wednesday night appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

Cuomo, 62, told Fallon via video that New Yorkers must stay "disciplined" and continue to abide by the various measures, including staying six feet apart and wearing face coverings.

"We laid out the facts and they did what they had to do, which is a great New York expression," he said. "They did it, they did it very well and that made all the difference in the world."

But he cautioned, "We still need to stay disciplined, the weather's warm now and people want to get outside. They want to hang out. When you say the worst is over, some people start to unwind. Wear the mask."

The father-of-three daughters said the "silver lining" to being in quarantine is spending more time with his daughters.

"In a crazy way," he said, "this gave me time with them that I never would have had."

But he joked, "the last thing they want to do is his hang out with dad."
