NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A coyote attacked a woman and her 4-year-old son in New Jersey last night.

The incident took place at around 7 p.m. on Hollywood Avenue in Fairfield when the woman was pushing her four-year-old son in a stroller.

The coyote went at the woman, biting the 37-year-old on the leg, and then nipped at the boy’s right leg after the stroller fell down.

The police searched backyards for the creature, who was eventually found running right toward police sergeant Frank Tracy.

“Off towards the road, I followed the two animals, and all of a sudden the coyote turned around and started coming right at me, and unfortunately I had to, you know, use force to put the animal down,” Tracy said.

The dead coyote is being tested for rabies.

Authorities warn residents that there may be more coyotes and that they should be careful and call for help if they spot one.
