NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The New York Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations is joining advocates and street vendors to condemn an alleged attack against a vendor in the city.

It happened on July 12, when a man allegedly snuck up behind Hassane Elbaz and assaulted him, shouting expletives and calling him a terrorist.

The suspect took off before the NYPD arrived. The incident has not been classified as a hate crime, but the council calling on them to do just that.
