NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The corruption trial for a former NYPD police deputy inspector began Monday.

In a case that reaches into big-time city political circles, James Grant is accused of giving police favors in exchange for expensive gifts.

Federal prosecutors said meant police escorts and even fixing traffic tickets for Jeremy Reichberg and Jona Rechnitz who were also big donors to Mayor Bill de Blasio, 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon reported.

They allegedly gave Grant a private plane to Vegas in 2013 with a prostitute on board, Rincon reported.

Reichberg has denied the charges and is on trial with Grant, while Rechnitz has flipped. The Real Estate investor is the government's prime witness in the case.

The New York Post reports that Rechnitz is expected to testify that he bribed several members of the NYPD.
