NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man wanted by police in connection with the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, has turned himself in.

Sade Sanchez, 24, was walking with her mother and a male friend near St. Nicholas and Menahan Streets, around 10:30 when she was shot in the neck, shoulder, chest, and stomach.

Reports say the woman and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Gabe Rivera, had recently broken up.

Chavez's aunts said her mother called police as recently as Saturday, after Rivera came to her Menahan Street apartment.

"It took them more than 50 minutes to come," one aunt said. "She just kept calling and calling, and saying you know what, my daughter could have been dead."

"Two hours, her mom said two hours to respond," another added.

Rivera turned himself in to police on Monday morning.

Sanchez's aunt Tara Santos said she had gotten an order of protection against Rivera.

"She was a good mom. She dedicated her life to her kids and only her kids," she said.

Sanchez died shortly after being rushed to Wyckoff Hospital.
