NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Authorities say a Bronx man was packing an arsenal of illegal and dangerous weapons.

Cops seized the powerful weapons in Richard Laugel's Palmer Ave apartment, according to a criminal complaint. They stumbled upon that when they followed a drug delivery.

"Laugel had accumulated an arsenal of dangerous weapons in his Bronx apartment, including a grenade launcher and an assault rifle," U.S. Attorney Geoffry Berman said.

"It started with a simple seizure at JFK," Border Protection Unit's Frank Russo said.

The trail of pills led them to Laugel, who also allegedly possessed a teddy bear filled with cocaine. Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said he'd already been charged in another case.

"There was an incident from the Bronx where a device was placed under a car," he said.

That device detonated, but caused only minor damage. Laugel was free on bail in that case

Explosive type material was also found in his home. Authorities say this was part of a larger investigation.
