CityViews: Loren Hammonds previews the 18th annual Tribeca Film Festival
1010 WINS IS AN OFFICIAL MEDIA PARTNER OF THE TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The 18th annual Tribeca Film Festival will kick off later this month.
This year's festival includes a 40th-anniversary edition of Francis Ford Coppola's 'Apocalypse Now'. The 4k restored version 'Apocalypse Now: Final Cut' will be followed by a conversation with Coppola.
Loren Hammonds is the senior programmer of film and immersive for the festival. He recently sat down with CityViews to preview the event for 1010 WINS.
"Francis Ford Coppola has actually restored the film to 4k print and also remixed the audio so it's going to be a really, really special night to see that film on the big screen as it's meant to be seen," Hammonds said.
Longtime film partners Robert De Niro and Martin Scorcese will also be coming together for a conversation at the Beacon Theater to reflect on their working relationship.
"This year he is in conversation with Martin Scorcese, so I think this is really a once in a lifetime opportunity to see those two talking about their collaborations and just their work," Hammonds said.
"We have In Living Color, we're celebrating the 25th anniversary, it's iconic, and then The Simpsons right along side it with all the creators of The Simpsons, and Wu-Tang," Hammonds said.
Queen Latifah will also be taking part in a conversation called 'The Queen Collective.' She mentored two young, female documentarians of color who will screen two short films at the festival.
