Organizers say the march is meant to provide, "a safe and accepting platform for supporters of equality to rally and march in promotion of civil rights."

Founder and president Katherine Siemionko said the event is put together by a 'grassroots team of volunteers.'

"Our mission is to include and advance women regardless of faith, sexual identity, and preference, race, cultural and religious background or political affiliation," she said.

The March on NYC is not affiliated with Women's March, Inc.

Siemionko told CIty Views' Sharon Barnes-Waters that this year's theme is 'From Outrage To Outcomes.'

"We were talking to the New Yorkers and people from New Jersey, Connecticut, the whole Tri-State area," she said. "They said, 'you know what, I am realizing that I have a voice as a woman."

She said people are tired of marching and want to take action.

"Last two years we've been seeing a lot of outrage on all sorts of issues, and we've been trying to funnel that rage," she said.

The third annual Women's March on NYC takes place on Saturday, January 19, at 11:00 a.m. on 61st Street and Central Park West.
