NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — If you speed through a school zone in New York City, you’ll be more likely to get caught soon.

The city is more than doubling its school zone speed cameras.

Mayor de Blasio spoke on the increase from 290 cameras to 750 Friday morning.

He said the cameras would be added at a rate of about 40 per month in 2019 and 60 per month in 2020, with the goal of reaching all 750 zones by June 2020.

State lawmakers voted Tuesday on the additional protection white Gov. Cuomo says he’s signing into law.

Drivers caught speeding by those cameras between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. will get a $50 fine.
