'Charmed' cast on sisterhood, fashion and being a reboot

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Like its predecessor, the new reboot of The CW’s “Charmed” is all about sisterhood – on- and off-screen.

“We all get along which is very lucky,” Melonie Diaz, who stars as time-stopping Melanie Vera, told 1010 WINS’ Rebecca Granet, of her co-stars Sarah Jeffery and Madeleine Mantock.

And it’s that theme of sisterhood that the trio would love to have the original show’s stars make an appearance on the reboot.

“The show is about sisterhood, so with open arms it would be an honor,” Mantock, whose character Macy Vaughn is telekinetic, said of the two casts sharing the small screen.

In looking back at the original “Charmed,” Jeffery, who stars as mind-reading Maggie Vera, said both shows share a common affinity for fashion.

“They were quite trendsetters in terms of three females at a forefront of a show, but their fashion was iconic,” she said. “We have a really wonderful costumer designer, Mandi Line, who really takes care of us and understands our characters.”

Jeffery said the show’s Halloween episode is a showstopper from a wardrobe perspective.

Chimed in Mantock, “We went all out.”

Off-screen, the trio are just as much into all things magic.

“I love ‘The Craft,’” Diaz said. “I still watch it on every Halloween, so I feel I’ve manifested this part for myself.”

And Jeffery is a fan of the genre, so needless to say, she was psyched to join the cast.

“It was so exciting -- I didn’t think it was going to happen honestly,” she said. “Things just kind of fell into place...They thankfully loved me. I loved the idea of it … I am thrilled, I was thrilled. It’s all very exciting.”

Charmed premieres Sunday at 9 p.m. on The CW.
