NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A member of the "Central Park Five" slammed Michael Bloomberg this week over the former mayor’s handling of the case, as well as his years-long opposition to striking a settlement deal with the exonerated men.

Kevin Richardson made the comments at an event outside Bloomberg’s Manhattan campaign office on Thursday, according to the New York Post.

“We all might vote for a different candidate, but I’m sure (any 2020 Democrat) will be better than Michael Bloomberg,” Richardson said.

In 1989, Richardson and four other then-teens—Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise—were wrongly convicted in the assault and rape of jogger Trisha Meili.

Although they were exonerated in December 2002, Bloomberg wouldn’t strike a deal with the five men after they sued the city for $250 million in 2003. The city ended up paying $41 million to them in 2014 under Mayor Bill de Blasio.

“Don’t let these ads get to you. Don’t be bamboozled by this,” Richardson said of Bloomberg’s multi-state ad blitz, which has cost the billionaire well over $415 million in less than three months.

In a statement, the Bloomberg campaign told the Post: “Mike will continue the dialogue he is having across the country on issues important to the Black and Latino community.”
