NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Self-proclaimed witches followed through with their plan to put a hex on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh Saturday night.

Dozens of people gathered outside an occult store in Bushwick, called Catland, to join in a ritual meant to place a curse on the new justice, “all rapists” and “the patriarchy” during the evening. The event was also live streamed on the store's Facebook page.

“We weren’t surprised by the confirmation, but we’re absolutely not going to take it silently,” said event organizer Dakota Bracciale.

Bracciale, who is also the co-owner of Catland, explained that the store organized the event in order to prevent “people in power to constantly show outright hostility to survivors of sexual violence.”

Catland also conjured up three events to hex President Donald Trump last year, according to the Huffington Post.

The ritual included carving Kavanaugh's name in a black candle, dousing it in "revenge oil" and then setting it on fire. According to Bracciale, there was also dirt from a graveyard and nails from a coffin involved.

“On one hand, it’s a political protest, on another hand it’s a magical ritual and on another hand it’s really important and socio-political theater,” Bracciale said.

There has been some backlash from the community and Catland was forced to hire security for the planned event. Dozens of Christians gathered in the area before the ritual and joined in a prayer circle to counter the hex.

Some 60 people paid $10 to attend the hexing. Half of the proceeds are promised towards LGBT causes and reproductive rights.
