Brooklyn thief electrocuted by subway rail while fleeing robbery

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A mugging in Brooklyn Saturday night ended in a fairly bizarre way.

Police said a man assaulted and robbed a person in Park Slope just before 8 p.m. The thief then ran off into a subway station at Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street.

Somehow that same man ended up on the northbound R train tracks and died.

Officials said he was killed after being electrified by the third rail.

It’s unclear how he ended up on the tracks.

The investigation is ongoing.
