Police arrest store clerk accused of fatally shooting man inside Brooklyn grocery

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a grocery store employee after he allegedly fatally shot a man Monday night.

Just after 11 p.m., officials responded to a call of shots fired inside the Rose Family Grocery Store located at 416 Glenmore Avenue in East New York.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered 25-year-old Edwin Candelario inside the store with gunshot wounds throughout his body.

EMS rushed the victim to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The New York Post reports Candelario walked into the store and pulled out a knife when he was fatally shot by the 34-year-old store clerk.

The employee was taken into custody and an unlicensed firearm was recovered inside the location, authorities said.

Officials also recovered a knife next to the victim but it was not immediately clear who the knife belonged to.

The investigation remains ongoing.
