NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 5-year-old girl was killed after portions of a heavy fence fell and struck her in Brooklyn Thursday night, according to police.

At about 8:55 p.m., on the sidewalk in front of 444 Harman Street, Alysson Pinto-Chaumana, walking with her mother, pulled at a decorative fence.

As she did so, part of the fence came undone and fell on her, causing her to hit the ground and sustain a head injury.

The mother got the attention of a passing ambulance and the girl was taken to Wyckoff Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The police are investigating.
