Brooklyn Borough President Plans ‘Rat Summit’ To Address Rat Infestation

June 28, 2018 - 8:06 am

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Summer has officially arrived in New York City and so have the rats.

As 1010 WINS’ John Montone reported, rodent reproductive urges go into overdrive in the warm weather and now Brooklyn residents says the streets are being overrun with rats.

“They’re big, they’re fearless, they don’t care,” one resident said. “I’m absolutely running when I see them.”

Overbreeding by rats has become such an issue that now Brooklyn Borough President Eric has announced plans for a “rat summit.”

Community officials plan to meet on Thursday, June 28 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the rat infestation and mitigation in the borough.

A promotional flyer encourages people to attend to learn about the plan to reduce the rat population, discuss health concerns and obtain free resources.
