NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Bronx man was arrested at JFK International Airport Friday for allegedly trying to join the Taliban.

The man, identified as 33-year-old Delowar Mohammad Hossain, appeared in court on Friday afternoon.

He was charged with attempted provision of material support for a terrorist organization and is being held without bail.

Hossain is accused of trying to board a flight to Pakistan with the intent to make his way to Afghanistan and join the Taliban.

Federal investigators have been monitoring Hossain, according to authorities.

Authorities said he is a U.S. citizen born in Bangladesh.

They said it doesn't appear he posed a threat to people in the U.S.
