NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Bronx Councilman Andy King was taking part in a ground-breaking ceremony on Tilden Street in the Bronx on a Habitat For Humanity project.

He told 1010 WINS the Sydney House will be a 56 unit, affordable co-op in the Williamsbridge section.

"This program is going to allow, not only home ownership, but allow people to be part of a community, part of a neighborhood. We started the conversation over 3-and-a-half years ago with Habitat For Humanity, and after talking and figuring out how to find money, I was able to put $2.8-million into this over $5-million project," King said.

King said the project is the biggest Habitat For Humanity has done to give people more affordable housing.

Habitat for humanity is working on the project in conjunction with Almat Group. It will include 26 one-bedroom units, 24 two-bedrooms, and 6 three-bedrooms.
