NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- There are big plans this weekend, to celebrate the end of an antiquated New York City law.

10,000 dancers will be celebrating down Broadway on Saturday.

"It's no longer necessary to have a license for dancing," Dance Parade Executive Director, Greg Miller said.

Miller explained the victory that repealed the city's cabaret law last year. It required a costly license for clubs and bars.

Councilman Rafael Espinal supported the repeal. He said it's about more than just dancing, it's about expression.

"Not only the dancing that goes on in our nightclubs, but also the dancing that goes on culturally in our communities, representing where people come from," he said.

The parade begins at 1 p.m. and heads down Broadway to Tompkins Square Park.
