BOSTON (1010WINS) -- Late-night TV talk show host James Corden and his "Car Pool Karaoke" segment -- where he and a celebrity guest belt out a tune while driving -- has gotten some stiff competition from a pair of Boston police officers.

In a spoof being billed as "Cop Pool Karaoke," Officers Kim Tavares and Stephen McNulty perform a duet of "God Bless America" while riding in their patrol car.

A video of the performance, posted to YouTube by the Boston Police Department, has amassed nearly 30,000 views by late Tuesday afternoon.

"Kim and I have been singing for the department individually for a number of years, performing the National Anthem at different venues, at different events, but we’ve never actually sung together," Officer McNulty told Boston's WBZ-TV.

Officer Tavares chimed in, "With the stress that we have to go through on a day-to-day basis, you need something that levels that stress out and music, it just makes you happy."

Added McNulty: "If it can show the human side of officers, if they can look at us in a different way, and maybe if it inspires them to go sing a song with their friends, so much the better."
