WELLFLEET, MA (1010 WINS) -- There's been a fatal shark attack on Cape Cod.

It's the first deadly incident of its kind at the beach in more than 80 years.

Arthur Medici, 26, was boogie boarding just 30 yards out on Saturday, when it happened.

While attacks are rare, experts are closely watching a new trend with the animal.

There are less than 100 attacks every year around the globe, but sharks are getting closer and closer to shore as they hunt their prey.

Medici was pulled from the water alive, but later died at the hospital from his injuries.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by family and friends to cover funeral costs.
