Body Found After Explosion Meets SWAT Team At Connecticut Home

NORTH HAVEN, CT (1010 WINS/AP) -- Cops responding to a domestic violence call in North Haven, Connecticut on Wednesday night, didn't realize it was actually a job for the bomb squad.

"Apparently the husband had barricaded his wife in the house, and our police department and surrounding SWAT agencies who support us, they were trying to coax very gently and compassionately the gentlemen out of the house and apparently it manifested itself into the explosion," Selectman Michael Freda said.

He said the explosion set off a huge fire and injured eight police officers. The injuries are not life-threatening. The wife escaped after being inside for nearly four days. A body has also been found but had yet to be identified.

1010 WINS reports that court records show a divorce proceeding between the husband and wife who own the home.

Deborah Sayre filed for divorce from John Sayre on April 18, claiming the marriage had 'broken down irretrievably' according to court records.
