NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A bear that was spotted wandering through Ridgewood and Waldwick, New Jersey on Thursday has been captured with "bacon."

Earlier Thursday, Ridgewood police posted a picture of the bruin on their Facebook page and police were helping animal control search for the bear.

Since the bear weighs 160 pounds, students at the Willard and Ridge elementary schools were briefly kept in their buildings while the bear roamed around the neighborhood.

He eventually made his way to a backyard on Evergreen Street in Waldwick and sought refuge in a tree. The bear was lured out of the tree on with a chemical agent that smells a lot like bacon, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported.

After being tranquilized and tagged, the bear will be released on state lands far from Waldwick, Jones reported.
