National Coffee Day: Don’t miss out on a free cup o’ joe

Americans can spend upwards of $9.7 billion on just dry coffee each year and another $2.7 billion on liquid coffee, according to So, it’s not surprising that there is an entire day dedicated to the drink.

This year, National Coffee Day falls on Sept. 29 and restaurants and some retailers are toasting the holiday with free coffee and discounted brews.

Caffeine lovers can head to a number of coffee joints to get the best deals of the day, including Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, Wawa, and Cinnabon.

While you won’t be able to get a free cup of Joe at Starbucks, for every cup of brewed Mexican Chiapas coffee song, the chain is giving a coffee tree to a Latin American farmer in need.

If you’re planning on buying a few cups today, then head to Dunkin’ Donuts. The chain is offering a buy-one-get-one deal all Saturday.

If you’re looking for a freebie: head to Cinnabon and pick up a free 12-ounce cup. Or pick up any sized coffee for just $1 at McDonald’s and Wawa locations around the country (though you have to use the McDonald’s app to score their deal).

Kristy Kremes will also be giving away free cups all day while 7-Eleven will offer free coffee with the purchase of a breakfast sandwich over $2.

Even Sprinkles, the famous cupcakery, will feature free coffee at participating store for the holiday.
