NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- People in Jersey City are were heartbroken after learning a beloved coach was killed in a local park.

Tony Coach Bello, 77, also known as "Coach B" and "The Mayor," was stabbed to death in Pershing Field in Jersey City Heights.

Bello was found on the park bench he often sat on with a cup of coffee and newspaper, 1010 WINS' John Montone reported.

"He was always so friendly to everyone, with us -- and the woman who used to live there -- he always sat out, he never bothered anybody. I don't understand," said Mariah DeBenedetto.

Bello was a history teacher at Saint Nicholas School as well as a little league coach at the very park where his long life was cut short, Montone reported.

Rest in peace, coach.
