PARAMUS, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- Yep, they finally caught him.

After a morning where he climbed up another tree and then on the roof of a garage in Ridgewood, a very busy bear is now back in hibernation.

The black bear was holed up in a tree all day Monday near a house in Paramus. Animal Control Officers tried to scare him down with loud noises, but he just went to sleep.

On Monday night, he was on the move again prompting officials to lock down an elementary school and high school because the bear got a bit too close for comfort.

One local woman who came across the bear during its nap, said she looked up at a tree near Midland Ave, then had to look again.

"I did a double take, and I said 'oh my god it's a bear," she said.

A hungry bear says Animal Control Officer Carol Tyler.

"It's garbage day, if you look around you, you'll see garbage cans everywhere, so the garbage trucks got here alread, but before they were full and he was probably having a grand old time. They'll take the easiest food they can come across," she explained.
