NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- One New York City babysitter can forget about using her employer as a job reference, after the caregiver stabbed the mother in a dispute over money, the NYPD said.

The incident -- which happened around 2:30 p.m. inside an apartment at 1154 East 229th Street in the Bronx's Edenwald neighborhood -- began after the babysitter arrived at the apartment of the 27-year-old mother to take care of her children.

An argument over money ensued and the babysitter proceeded to allegedly stab the mother several times in the torso and arms.

The mother was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx; her condition is unknown.

The babysitter is in police custody and is awaiting charges.
