JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- An arrest has been made in connection with a deadly stabbing in Jersey City.

Anthony Bello, 77, was found stabbed to death in Pershing Field -- the same park where he coached football and baseball.

"He was always so friendly to everyone, with us -- and the woman who used to live there -- he always sat out, he never bothered anybody. I don't understand," said Mariah DeBenedetto.

A suspect was picked up on Wednesday afternoon.

Bello was known as 'the mayor of the block.' He was stabbed in the chest while walking through the park to go to church, NJ.com reported.

Bello was found on the park bench he often sat on with a cup of coffee and newspaper, 1010 WINS' John Montone reported.
