Arrest made in shooting death of mob associate at McDonald's drive-thru

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man has been arrested in connection with the apparent mob hit at a McDonalds drive-thru in the Bronx.

Bushawn Shelton, of Brooklyn, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder for hire and posession of a firearm in the shooting death of 71-year-old Sylvester Zottola.

Shelton, also known as "Shelz," is not charged with murder, but prosecutors indicated he's the one who ordered the multiple attempts on Zottola's life -- including the successful one on October 4.

Prosecutors say Zottola had connections to the Bonnano crime family and Shelton is a high ranking member of the Bloods gang.

A search of his home allegedly turned up a loaded gun and $45,000 in cash which Shelton claimed was from his t-shirt business.

His grandmother told investigators that her grandson had come into the money recently.
