NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into the home of a mother and daughter, sexually assaulting the daughter and then beating the mother when she tried to call 911 for help.

Solomon Hudgins, 27, of Flushing, was arrested and charged with buglary, attempted rape, and other crimes, officials said Monday.

Hudgins allegedly climbed into the home on Sunday at 2 a.m., through a bathroom window, grabbed the 64-year-old victim, groped her breast, touched her genitals and tried to pull her pants down.

When the victim’s 94-year-old mother tried to call 911 for help, Hudgins allegedly grabbed the phone and hit the mother with it.

He attempted to flee but was taken into custody nearby, say authorities.

"This was a vicious attack on a 64-year-old woman, who did her best to fight off the nearly-naked defendant in the middle of the night," said acting Queens District Attorney John Ryan in a statement. "The victim’s 94-year-old mother tried to call the police, only to have the defendant grab the phone from her and strike her with it. If the charges are proven, this defendant deserves nothing less than a significant term of incarceration."

Hudgins faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 9.
