GREAT NECK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A 66-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to a deadly stabbing in Great Neck, according to Nassau County police.

Officers were called to a home on North Road near Spring Lane just before 4 p.m. Monday.

Upon their arrival, they discovered a 60-year-old woman with a stab wound in the chest. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but did not survive.

Her identity was not immediately released as authorities worked to notify family members.

On Tuesday, Homicide Squad detectives arrested Faye Doomchin, 66, and charged her with second-degree murder.

Authorities said the two woman had gone to lunch together with a male friend Monday afternoon. After lunch, they bought a cake and went back to Doomchin’s home in Great Neck.

“There was no incidents at lunch. They picked up cake, came back to the house, started playing the piano,” said Detective Lieutenant Stephen Fitzpatrick. “Sometime during this time, Faye had this aggressive feeling towards her and said she needed to rid the house of evil and appeared in the living room with this knife and stabbed her.”

Authorities said Doomchin was also arrested for assault in 1999, when she stabbed someone else.

Her arraignment is scheduled for this afternoon.
