NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Gravesend, Brooklyn on Tuesday.

Susan Liebowitz, 55, of Brooklyn, was charged Wednesday with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.

The victim, 57-year-old Francine LaBarbara, was a single mom of twin boys and marketing director of The Bagel Store in Williamsburg. She was coming home from the grocery store when she was hit by a van in the crosswalk at Avenue Y and West 2nd Street.

Residents said it was just a matter of time before someone was killed and have been saying the corner is dangerous.

Brooklyn Borough Borough President Eric Adams is expected to urge the city to take steps on improving street safety.
