Jeff Sessions Fires Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe

March 16, 2018 - 11:35 pm

WASHINGTON (1010 WINS/AP) -- Attorney General Jeff Sessions has fired former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, effective immediately.

Sessions fired McCabe two days before McCabe was set to retire after 22 years, meaning he may not be eligible to collect his pension.

McCabe says his firing is part of Trump administration's "ongoing war on the FBI'' and Mueller investigation.

In a statement, McCabe said, "I am being singled out and treated this way because of the role I played, the actions I took, and the events I witnessed in the aftermath of the firing of James Comey.”

McCabe's firing comes three days after Trump fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
