NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threw her support behind a Goya Foods boycott on Thursday, hours after the company’s CEO praised President Donald Trump at a White House event.

Speaking at a “Hispanic Prosperity Initiative” event in the Rose Garden on Thursday, Robert Unanue, the CEO of the Hispanic food brand, called Trump an “incredible builder.”

“We are truly blessed, at the same time, to have a leader like President Trump, who is a builder, and that is what my grandfather did: he came to this country to build, to grow, to prosper,” Unanue said. “And so we have an incredible builder, and we pray, we pray for our leadership, our president, and we pray for our country that we will continue to prosper and to grow."

Calls for a Goya Foods boycott came swiftly after Unanue’s remarks. In a tweet Thursday evening, Ocasio-Cortez implied that she supported the boycott.

“Oh look, it’s the sound of me Googling ‘how to make your own Adobo,’” she wrote.

In an interview with “Fox & Friends” Friday morning, Unanue said he stood by his comments.

“I’m not apologizing for saying (it) — and especially when you’re called by the president of the United States — you’re going to say, ‘no, I’m sorry, I’m busy, no thank you?’” he said.

“I didn’t say that to the Obamas, and I didn’t say that to President Trump,” he added.
