NEW YORK (1010 WINS) Animal Care Centers of NYC is overrun with animals and has released an open letter to the people of New York City asking for help.

The city's not for profit animal shelter system says it's been taking in 75 to 100 animals per day, and is now over capacity, with 630 animals in its care. They say that's forced them to, for the first time in years, house animals in crates and cages in hallways.

Below is the letter emailed and posted online.  Get more information at nycacc.org or stop by the shelters in Manhattan, at 326 east 110th street, in Brooklyn at 2336 Linden Boulevard or on Staten Island, sat 3139 Veterans Road West. Adoption hours are: weekdays noon to 8pm, Saturday & Sunday, 10am to 6pm.
