NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Reports say Amazon is reconsidering a plan to open a new headquarters in New York City.

The Washington Post reports, this comes after local politicians pushed back against the plan to bring an Amazon headquarters to Queens.

Two people told the Washington Post that Amazon executives have been having internal discussions regarding alternatives to New York.

“The question is whether it’s worth it if the politicians in New York don’t want the project, especially with how people in Virginia and Nashville have been so welcoming,” they said.

Gov.  Andrew Cuomo warned that "political pandering'' to critics of Amazon's proposed secondary headquarters could sink New York's biggest-ever economic development deal. But opponents say they'll keep fighting a project they consider corporate welfare.

Noting the report, Cuomo accused the state Senate of ``governmental malpractice'' and pandering. He says it's ``trying to stop Amazon.''

Cuomo previously has accused Democrats of 'playing politics' with the deal by nominating a critic of the plan to a state board that has the power to derail the project. Cuomo's comments came the day after Queens Sen. Michael Gianaris was tapped to serve on the Public Authorities Control Board.

Mayor Bill de Blasio commented on the situation Friday afternoon, through Press Secretary Eric Phillips.

"The Mayor fully expects Amazon to deliver on its promise to New Yorkers," he said.

Amazon has not yet leased or bought office space for the new headquarters.
