Amazon To Expand Prime Day

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- It's your time to Prime!

On July 16 at 3 p.m. EST, Amazon will be hosting its virtual savings event exclusively for Prime members with over a million deals on the latest and greatest products from around the globe.

This year, Prime Day will last for 36 hours. Last year's Prime Day racked in the most sales in Amazon's history, which they hope to increase even more by tacking on an additional six hours to the event.

Amazon Prime, which is a paid subscription service that gives users access to free two-day delivery, streaming video and music, and other benefits for a monthly or yearly fee, has more than 100 million members. By creating Prime Day, Amazon hoped to both highlight their personal brands as well as recruit even more members by offering one of a kind deals for a limited time.

One of the benefits of Prime is a year-round discount at Whole Foods stores. On Prime Day, however, Amazon is promising members with an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card the ability to get 10 percent cash back on purchases up to $400 from July 14 to July 17.

Special discounts on Alexa products such as Echo, Fire TV, Fire tablets and newer products like the Alexa-enabled faucet will be provided. Also, deals on funiture and home decor from brands like Rivet, Stone & Beam, AmazonBasics, Presto and more will be available.
