NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — During your next hotel stay, you might notice an echo in the room ... that is, an Amazon Echo.

Amazon announced on Tuesday that a new version of Alexa will let hotel guests use the virtual assistant to play music, order room service, find local attractions or control the lighting and temperature of the room.

Amazon says that having Alexa for Hospitality will allow for responsive service where the hotel staff can focus on guest interactions.

"Alexa for Hospitality integrates seamlessly with your existing amenities and services, to become your guests’ virtual concierge," the Amazon website says.

The Echo smart speakers will appear in 10 Marriott hotels starting this summer.

According to Amazon, guests will soon be able to connect their Amazon accounts to the smart speakers in their hotel rooms.

For guests who want to have a more traditional hotel experience, Marriott says that guests can have the Echo removed from their room if they do not want it there. Amazon also says that properties cannot listen to what is said to Alexa or what she says back.
